Through out this course I received the chance to educate patients on using there incentive spirometers. I also assisted with range of motion, and helped get the patients up out of bed. My last patient I had this semester, was fully independent, so I shared with her how to clean and prepare for a heart cath. she was going to have in the afternoon.
Personal ReflectionI have gained a significant amount of knowledge during this course. Taking care of such critically ill patients, opened my mind to the big picture, and I had to look at the patients history, admitting diagnosis and where they were presently. Connecting all those dots, along with learning the specific machines and devices, gave me a well rounded understanding of how to look at patients as a whole, and not the just reason they are receiving care.
