Therapeutic communication
My clinical group and I went into the City of New Philadelphia and presented information to a group of teenagers and young adults. We used age appropriate learning materials and activities. A group member and myself, sat down with three young girls and discussed ways to prevent STD's, what they would see, and resources available to them and others in their community. We also opened up and asked if they had any questions for us, and that was the majority of the discussion.
Personal ReflectionThis course really opened my eyes to what is available in the canton community and others surrounding canton. I enjoyed and learned a lot at every clinical site, and have even referred people to places now that I know more about them and where they are located. This course has gotten me more interested in researching my community and focusing on needs that are able to be fulfilled. I am also becoming more involved with my churches outreach and possibly going to serve in the communities affected by hurricane sandy.
